TalentSmith was started in 2002 as a result of a market need identified by the co-founders, who experienced significant challenges relative to workforce performance and the lack of providers in the market.
Their previous start up focused on the core business such as Solutions Development, Marketing, Selling and Operations, while growing rapidly by about 200 employees per year. A non-core business process, although a key enabler, was workforce performance.
As a result, a search for an alliance was launched where the benefits would be strategic, risk mitigated and overall improved effectiveness. This search proved inconclusive, as the vendors found were either consultants or recruiting firms, and their existing business models limited their abilities to engage properly - integrating into the customer value chain yet focusing on respective core competencies.
