"Someone once said that adventure racers are just like a bunch of big kids. Riding your bike fast downhill, running through the bush and paddling your canoe down river just like a kid! That pretty much sums it up for me. I relive my childhood every time I race. Although, there are other reasons why I adventure race. My wife thinks it is some form of mid-life crisis combined with a never-ending rivalry with my brothers. She may be right, even though I may not admit it. I think it has more to do with staying healthy, being competitive and having fun. At least that's what I tell myself. Above all else, adventure racing has provided me with an opportunity to interact and make friends with many interesting people who share in the same passion that I do. This is the true reward of adventure racing!
Whatever the reason may be, adventure racing is a multi-faceted sport that always provides a challenge. If you like challenges like me, then adventure racing might be the right past time for you! Happy adventure racing! See you out on the course." |

"When I asked my son what I should include in my biography he suggested that I say that I am a " big lean athletic machine", then upon looking at my 5'4 124 lbs. frame he better suggested lets call you the "tiny terror"!
Both of which statements are partially true.
My athleticism was resurrected in my 20's when I decided that it was about time to head back to the gym after a five year hiatus from competitive gymnastics. I began to do a lot of weight lifting, and liked the results that I was seeing.
After a few years I was getting a bit bored, my husband suggested I should try a spin class. That suggestion opened a whole new world for me. My instructor Peter (and fellow team-mate) was very motivating, and at every opportunity was suggesting that his students get out there and compete.
I bought a mountain bike and road off into the sunset! This is now my second year mountain biking, and my first year road biking. I love both styles of riding.
Adventure racing offers a lot of opportunities for people of all ages and athletic abilities to challenge themselves both physically and mentally. I hope Team webscroll.com will continue throughout the next season and allow all members to achieve their goals, individually and as part of a team. I feel privileged to race with two great athletes, and am proud to be part of Team webscroll.com."

"Adventure racing is like all racing thrown into one
big pile, except you get dirty. No other sport
challenges you as mentally and physically as adventure
racing. You must be good at many different
disciplines, including teamwork. The fittest and the
fastest don't always win. Race smart, have fun, gain
from the experience." |
